Hey Siri, what’s new?

It is only since iOS 10 that Apple offers the Home app as an interface for HomeKit-enabled accessories – an alternative to apps developed by other manufacturers, including Elgato’s Eve app. Another interface to HomeKit is Siri, a simple and interactive tool that enables you to control your connected home with voice commands via your iPhone, iPad, fourth-generation Apple TV, and Apple Watch.
Using the Eve app, you have access to all Apple-supported HomeKit data such as temperature, humidity, and on/off status, as well as additional information not available via Siri — air pressure, recent energy usage, historical data, and more.

But developers of HomeKit-enabled devices, such as Elgato, offer apps like Eve for the setup and management of your devices. Using the Eve app, you have access to all Apple-supported HomeKit data such as temperature, humidity, and on/off status, as well as additional information not available via Siri — air pressure, recent energy use, historical data, and more.

When setting up a new HomeKit-enabled device, Eve offers to set a Siri name for the device. This is an option you should choose for a better Siri experience later.
