Ever since its debut at CES 2018 earlier this year, Eve Button has become a hot topic. And now, thanks to the release of iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3, it offers an additional function that essentially doubles your Eve Button controls, giving you the ability to toggle between device states. In other words, one gesture – a single, double, or long press – can now execute two scenes. Take Eve Energy, for example. Previously, if you wanted to switch it on and off via Eve Button, you had to assign one scene (Power on) to a single-press, and a second (Power off) to a double-press. Now, using conditions, you can simply use a single-press to activate either scene – much like any switch.

The greenhouse effect is well known to anyone who has entered his or her greenhouse (or car for that matter) amidst a blazing sun: interiors heat up considerably more than their exterior surroundings. The reason being that the energy of the sun’s rays heats the soil and plants within the greenhouse – plus the structure of the greenhouse itself – but fails to escape due to the heat-retaining design of the greenhouse. In this tutorial, we’ll show you exactly how to automatically cool a greenhouse with Eve Degree and a fan connected to Eve Energy.

A healthy indoor climate is one in which temperature and humidity levels are conducive to ensuring your comfort and, more importantly, your wellbeing. Maintaining a healthy temperature in a room is easily achieved by setting a thermostat to anywhere between 18 and 22 degrees. By contrast, ensuring healthy humidity levels traditionally entails constant monitoring, activation, and deactivation of a humidifier. Fortunately, with the help of Eve Degree and Eve Energy, an inexpensive humidifier ($30) can easily be automated to regulate humidity levels without your constant attention. In this tutorial, we’ll show you exactly how to set it up.

Beginning with version 1.5, Eve supports all HomeKit-based triggers (location, value, time) and conditions. The simplest type of automation with HomeKit involves timers. At a user-defined day and time, the timer triggers a prebuilt scene, such as turning on the kitchen lights via Eve Energy. Timers can be set to fire up once or on repeating basis, e.g., every day at 7 a.m. This post explains how to use timers.
