Elgato announces Eve Button at CES 2018 in Las Vegas – the latest addition to the Eve family of HomeKit-enabled accessories. With Eve Button, a practical and elegant controller for the HomeKit-enabled household, scenes and accessories can be controlled at any time simply by, well, pressing a button.
Sporting a clean design and an elegant aluminum housing with curved contours, Eve Button will individually trigger up to three HomeKit scenes upon a single, double, or long press. Lighting and appliance control instantly becomes accessible to everyone in the house. Eve Button seamlessly integrates into any HomeKit setup. And, because you need not configure a bridge or third party cloud service, installation via Apple Home or the Eve app is a matter of a few minutes. Eve Button is available immediately for USD $49.95 from Elgato and Amazon, and will be available in the Apple Store later this month.
Eve Button and Home
Not everyone has access to an iPhone, iPad, or Siri. And those who do are not always keen to carry their devices around, or issue voice commands. Moreover, sensor-based automation is not viable for every scenario. But thanks to its user-friendly design, Eve Button enables everyone at home to control accessories and scenes with ease – in a manner that feels natural.
In Apple’s Home app, you simply assign accessories and actions (on or off) to three types of a press (single, double or long) – plus you have the option to set the duration of a scene (e.g. lights on For 10 Minutes).
Eve Button and the app Eve
Of course, Eve Button can also be set up via the app Eve. As part of the setup, you need to assign existing scenes to the three button press variants, such as switching on lights, switching off the music system, or activating your “Good Night” scene that turns off everything.
Eve Button connects via Bluetooth Low Energy and is powered by a durable, replaceable CR2032 battery. The device is just 52 x 52 x 13 mm / 2.1 x 2.1 x 0.5 in size, so it fits in your pocket. Eve Button requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11.2 or later. An Apple TV with tvOS 11, or an iPad configured as a home hub, is essential.
